Mt. Ol Doinyo Lengai (2,962m) is an active volcano sacred to the Maasai and known as the “Mountain of God.” Located near Lake Natron, it offers one of Tanzania’s most unique trekking experiences. The steep night ascent leads to sunrise views over endless volcanic plains, the Rift Valley escarpment, and the glowing landscape surrounding Lake Natron.

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Natron
Depart from Arusha and drive through Maasai country toward the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at Lake Natron, home to flamingoes and striking salt flats. In the afternoon, take a short hike to the Ngarasero Waterfalls for a refreshing experience. Rest early in preparation for the overnight ascent.

Day 2: Night Ascent & Summit of Ol Doinyo Lengai (2,962m)
Begin your hike around midnight to take advantage of cooler temperatures. Climb the steep trail toward the summit, reaching the crater rim by sunrise. Take in breathtaking views of Lake Natron, Mount Gelai, Lengai's crater, and distant Kilimanjaro. Descend back to base camp, rest, hydrate, and relax for the remainder of the day.

Day 3: Lake Natron to Arusha
Enjoy a slow morning and breakfast overlooking the valley. Optional final stroll to the lake shore to observe flamingoes. Depart Lake Natron and travel back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.
